Board of Directors
Bruce D. Hansen has been our Chief Executive Officer and a director of the Company since January 2007. From September 2005 until he joined us in January 2007, Mr. Hansen served as Senior Vice President, Operations Services and Development at Newmont Mining Corporation. Prior to that, Mr. Hansen served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Newmont Mining Corporation from July 1999 to September 2005. Mr. Hansen also served as the Vice President of Project Development for Newmont and previously was the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Santa Fe Pacific Gold Corporation. Mr. Hansen is also a director of Energy Fuels Inc.
R. David Russell has been the President & CEO/director of the Canadian gold company Apollo Gold Corporation ("Apollo Gold") since 2002, which is listed on the TSX and on AMEX, and has been a director of the Company since 2002. In 1999, Mr. Russell founded Nevoro Gold Corporation which was subsequently merged with Apollo Gold. From 1994 to 1999, Mr. Russell was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Getchell Gold Corporation ("Getchell"), a Nevada gold producer. Prior to working for Getchell, Mr. Russell was General Manager, US operations, for LAC Minerals Ltd. and, after their acquisition, Barrick Gold Corporation.
Richard F. Nanna is Vice President Exploration for Apollo Gold and has been a director of the Company since 2003. Mr. Nanna was Vice President of Exploration in Nevada for Getchell from 1994 to 1999.
Ricardo M. Campoy has been a director of the Company since August 2006. Mr. Campoy has worked as an international natural resources banker for twenty-six years, having served in executive finance positions at various firms, including as Head of Mining & Metals of WestLB AG and as Member/Senior Advisor of McFarland Dewey & Co., LLC. Prior to Mr. Campoy's work in finance, he was employed as a mining engineer. Mr. Campoy is currently in private practice as a financial and corporate advisor to the natural resources industry.
Mark A. Lettes has been a director of the Company since April 2007. Mr. Lettes served as Chief Financial Officer of Apex Silver Mines from June 1998 to June 2006, and was responsible for financing of Apex's large-scale San Cristobal silver and zinc mine in Bolivia. Prior to joining Apex, Mr. Lettes held senior financial positions with Cyprus Amax, Amax, Inc., and Amax Gold. Mr. Lettes serves on the Board of Directors of Yukon Zinc Corporation.
Jean-Pierre Ergas is currently the Chairman of BWAY Corporation, a leading metal and plastic public packaging group that he led as CEO from 2000 to 2007. From 1985 to 2000, Mr. Ergas was a Senior Corporate Officer of Pechiney and Alcan, two of the world's leading aluminum producers. Mr. Ergas was a member of the Pechiney Executive Committee, in charge of its aluminum downstream business from 1986 to 1994 and in 1995, became a member of the Alcan Aluminum Corporate Executive Committee, in charge of Europe. Mr. Ergas has been a CEO of leading European and American packaging and metallurgic companies for 31 years. Mr. Ergas is a graduate from l'Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris and has a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard University. He also serves as a Director of Dover Corporation, Compagnie Plastic Omnium (Paris stock exchange), and Splix S.A. (a private French company).
Gary Loving has over 35 years of experience as a mining company executive and manager. He has been responsible for mining projects and operations at Homestake Mining Company, Phelps Dodge Corporation and Frontera Copper Corporation. Most recently, Mr. Loving served as President, CEO and Director of Frontera Copper from February 2005 to October 2007. Prior to his positions at Frontera, he served as Senior Vice President of South American Operations for Phelps Dodge, where he was responsible for operations at Candelaria, El Abra and Ojos del Salado in Chile, and Cerro Verde in Peru. His experience includes both surface and underground, base and precious metal operations. Mr. Loving's experience includes the development of new, copper mining and processing projects such as the Candelaria project in Chile from October 1994 through November of 1997 and the Piedras Verdes project in Mexico. Mr. Loving earned a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of Arizona and has completed Executive Management programs at both Stanford and Dartmouth Universities.
Andrew G. Sharkey recently retired as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), a position he has held since 1993, where he was awarded the prestigious Gary Memorial Medal for his contributions to the Institute and the North American steel industry. He previuosly served in various roles including President of the Steel Service Center Institute (now Metals Service Center Institute) from 1978-1993. Mr. Sharkey is a graduate of Yale University and earned a M.A.T. from Duquense University. He also currently serves as a Director of the Reliance Steel and Aluminum Company, the largest metals service center in the United States with over 200 locations.
Michael K. Branstetter has been our Secretary since November 1992, and acts as our corporate counsel. Mr. Branstetter is the principal of Hull & Branstetter Chartered, a law firm in Idaho. He served as Treasurer from 1992 until October 2007.
Executive Management
Bruce Hansen

Prior to that, served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Newmont from July 1999 to September 2005. Also served as Vice President of Project Development for Newmont and previously was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Santa Fe Pacific Gold Corporation. Bruce has a BS in Mining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a MBA in Finance from the University of New Mexico.
Dave Chaput
Chief Financial Officer since April 2007. More than 26 years of financial and operational experience in the metals and mining industry and most recently served as Vice President Finance, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of The Doe Run Resources Corporation. Dave has a BS in business administration, finance and accounting, and an MBA in finance from Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville.
Robert Pennington
Vice President Engineering and Construction. Over 23 years in plant operations and 6 years in design engineering firm. Has participated in numerous large-scale projects world-wide and has served as general manager of one of the largest open-pit/concentrator operations in the world, the Phelps Dodge Morenci mine in Arizona.
Greg McClain
Vice President of Business Development since September 2007. Previously served as Executive Vice President of Fabricated Products Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Doe Run Resources Corporation, where he led operations and finance at three locations. Previously oversaw the global marketing of Doe Run's concentrates and by-product metals. Prior to that, worked in a variety of positions developing and modifying steel alloys. Greg holds a BS in metallurgical engineering and an MS in engineering management from the University of Missouri at Rolla.
Lee Shumway
Controller, Treasurer and principal accounting officer since June 2009 and Controller of the Company since May 2009. Mr. Shumway joined the Company in November 2007 as Director of Business Process and Information Technology, responsible for supply chain management and information technology. From 2002 to November 2007, he served as Director of Supply Chain - Nevada Operations for Newmont Mining Corporation. Prior to joining Newmont, Mr. Shumway had more than 15 years of experience with Santa Fe Pacific Gold and Price Waterhouse.
